Studio Maniera is a design studio founded by Cameron Bird and Evan Saskin in Halifax. The husband and wife team have designed and built homes together since 2010.

Rooted in minimalist principles and shaped by classical and contemporary European influences, Studio Maniera’s designs are refined, bold and approachable. Their spaces feel lived-in, character-rich, and deeply personal. With a sensitivity to architectural heritage, their work thoughtfully bridges old and new, tradition and modernity.

At Studio Maniera, design is approached as an art form: a considered dialogue between past and present, restraint and expression.

Cameron holds a Master’s degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art, with a focus on Italian Renaissance and Decorative Arts — a foundation that informs her worldly and scholarly approach to interiors. Her background spans design-build, interior decoration, and editorial styling. The studio’s name reflects the qualities that inspire her work: elegance without effort, atmospheric composition, and the pursuit of elevated beauty.

Evan is a licensed architect, home builder, and lifelong design obsessive. His portfolio fuses technical mastery with a playful curiosity into the poetry of materials. With deep knowledge of building systems and construction processes, he crafts architecture that balances comfort, utility, and elegance. Evan’s work grounds the grandeur of architecture with a love for the small moments that define daily life.

Modern yet storied. Effortless yet intentional.

The term Maniera is an Italian word meaning ‘style’ - specifically artistic style that emphasizes beauty over realism - and it is also the name for the Mannerist era of art - often viewed as an extension of the Italian Renaissance. Mannerism is sometimes referred to as the ‘stylish style’ which informs the Maniera outlook.
